The 2016-17 inaugural ADO season concludes with a very special event. This will be a live-audience concert given from the James Forbes Academy, Ian Roach Hall, at Scotch College under the auspice of Independent Schools Victoria (ISV). Like all ADO concerts, this event is also live-streamed for audiences around the world.
As the closing event of the 2017 Independent Schools Victoria Arts Learning Festival, the concert will be a celebration of the dedicated orchestral musicians who give tirelessly in the advancement of instrumental music skills for children in Victorian schools. The players for this orchestra event will be made up entirely from these wonderful musicians and teachers.
The live-streamed concert will include the Australian premieres of Miranda’s Waltz – an enchanting symphonic adventure for narrator and orchestra (story by Mary Hall Surface) by leading American composer, Susan Kander, and an extraordinary piece for orchestra and unison children’s chorus – The Imaginary Symphony No. 1 – by Director of the Children’s Chorus at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Anthony Piccolo.
Prior to the concert on May 7, a world-first, interactive 3D environment will allow children, parents and all concert attendees to explore the Miranda’s storyworld, as well as being able to go inside the amazing Imaginarium of the symphony’s title. Inside these worlds, there will be amazing creatures, quests to follow, puzzles to solve, and chances to win free-tickets to the online streamed concert for those unable to make it to the concert itself. More details coming soon.
